Family Camping in New Mexico

Family camping can be a great experience and one that everyone will remember the rest of their lives. Everyone should try it at least once and there is no greater place to visit than New Mexico.

New Mexico has a wide range of sites and attractions with excellent facilities where you can choose to camp with your family for a weekend or a longer.

Most children love family camping and New Mexico has some fantastic scenery such as lakes, mountains and quiet peaceful meadows full of wildlife. There is a wide variety of geography to see such as plateaus, canyons and valleys. Some of the many lakes offer fantastic fishing or you can go on a horse back trip into the wilderness with a guide.

Other attractions in the state of New Mexico include the International UFO Museum and Research Center, the Aztec Ruins and Billy the Kid Trail which is part of the one million acre Lincoln National Forest In New Mexico.

You can often book online for your family camping trip and in New Mexico you'll love sleeping under the stars. There are thirteen National Monuments, 29 State Parks, and five National Forests and all are perfect destinations for your family camping trip. New Mexico is the perfect outdoor adventure for your family.

When choosing a campsite in New Mexico you should think about what sort of facilities you will need. Most sites include toilet and shower facilities as well as fresh water. You may want to look for a site that allows barbecues and that has a launderette and maybe a few shops. Some sites also offer sports facilities, shops, bars, and a few even have restaurants as well.

Choose a campsite in a good location that is close to all the attractions you want to visit or that is near to one of the five National Parks. You may need to book in advance if the site is very popular.

Be sure to check into other recreational activities such as tennis or boating, which can be perfect activities for family camping.

New Mexico is a popular place for walking and hiking. There are caverns worth visiting in Carlsbad Caverns National Park with the largest and most extensive cave system in North America, and the White Sands National Park is an interesting area to visit that is filled with gypsum sand.

There are plenty of geological and archaeological sites to view in New Mexico. If you are a nature lover, you may wish to visit the Kiowa National Grasslands or one of the other seven national wildlife preserves. In the Rio Grande, you may have the chance to see some unusual migratory birds at the Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge.
