MRE's Meals Ready to Eat - MRE's stands for "Meals Ready to Eat" and are the latest U.S. Military field rations (meals) that are perfect for short backpacking treks, campers, hunters, and emergency reserves. MRE's were developed to be eaten anywhere, anytime. Ready-to-Eat hot or cold without any preparation! They are packaged in a triple-layer foil/plastic "retort" pouch for longer storage-life. Each complete MRE meal will provide 1100 to 1300 calories. Nitro-Pak's MRE meals, unlike most other MRE's available, use only military spec MRE components, i.e, entree and side dishes, and components such as snack items and the accessory packet.
No water needed to prepare (except for powdered beverage). Each instant meal unit begins with crackers and a spread as an appetizer and then moves on to the main course entree. Afterwards, enjoy a complementing 4.5 oz. side dish like apple sauce or fruit cocktail, plus 2 oz packet of Raisins & Mix Nuts and a 2 oz. Oatmeal Cookie for dessert. A separate accessory packet with each meal includes: eating spoon, coffee, sugar, creamer, salt, pepper, napkin, moist cleanup towlette.
